A Stress-Free Utah County Wedding in 90 Days
You might feel like planning a wedding is a lot—but it’s really not when you break it into the right pieces. For those of us in Utah County, three months is plenty of time to make thoughtful choices, lock in the big stuff, and still enjoy the process. Many of our brides plan their wedding themselves (with a bit of help from mom) and do it in mere months; welcome to Utah Wedding planning!
Here’s how to do it without the overwhelm.
Lock in your temple date first
If you’re like many of our brides planning an LDS wedding, your temple date should be your very first step. Everything else—venue, reception, vendors—flows around it. Check temple schedules early, make your reservation, and lock it in.
Once your temple date is set, you can confidently book your venue and build the rest of your day around it.
Tip: We’re a block from the City Center Temple - and we’re biased here as it is the best temple for photography in the valley - ask us why. La Fête was built by a veteran wedding photographer, so we know all the tricks to making wedding day photos work.
Find a venue that matches your vibe
Start with the venue (you probably knew we’d say that)— but seriously, it sets the tone for everything. Check our website for capacity, pricing, and style.
Note that Instagram and online galleries can be a goldmine for photos of previous weddings at the venue so you can get a feel for what other’s have done with the space and get your inspiration going.
Finally, make sure the staff seems attentive—they’ll make a huge difference on your day and we pride ourselves on our 5 star reviews that highlight this.
Tip: We’re biased, but we believe barns and factories are out. Classical, clean lines are in! That is why we built our spaces to reflect a new aesthetic that today’s brides are looking for.
Lock in a photographer you love
Your photographer will capture memories that last a lifetime, so really spend quality time on Instagram getting to know what you like. Brides these days have it easy as they are much more visually literate than previous generations - all that social media can help you understand what you like/don’t like.
Browse Instagram hashtags for Utah County weddings, check out photographer portfolios, and ask recently married friends for recommendations.
Meet with potential photographers to make sure their personality and style feel right—calm, fun, and stress-free energy is key. Many photographers will offer to discount engagement sessions as part of their package and this is a great way to make sure you click with them before the big day.
Tip: We built our list of preferred photographers carefully - there is a style and budget for every bride on our list.
Build a Pinterest moodboard
Pinterest is your best friend here—create a board that nails your vibe: color palettes, florals, tablescapes, signage, dresses, and décor.
Utah County brides are all about desert-chic right now: soft neutrals (creamy beige, sand, taupe, muted terracotta) as the base, with bold pops of dusty blue, burnt orange, teal, or vibrant pink.
Layer on the details and textures, and keep the palette grounded yet playful: neutrals + just one or two standout hues = chic, photo-ready, and never overwhelming.
Tip: Use your moodboard when chatting with florists, caterers, and planners so everyone instantly gets your vision via your curated visuals..
Map out the day
Decide which parts of the day matter most: reception only, or will you include a ring ceremony, luncheon, or dinner?
Utah County weddings often have a variety of traditions, so plan your timeline carefully. Include breaks for photos, travel between temple and reception, and time for your vendors to set up.
A clear schedule keeps the day flowing and reduces stress. A well planned timeline can make the most of your day and especialy your venue time.
Invitations & timing
Plan to send invitations 8–10 weeks before the wedding.
This ensures guests have time to RSVP and gives you a head start on seating needs and food counts.
Utah County brides often include dress code tips (semi-formal, outdoor-friendly shoes, etc.) and temple-specific instructions. Whether digital, printed, or a mix, keep invites aligned with your wedding aesthetic.

Food + Drinks You’ll Love
Catering can be simple or elaborate, depending on your desires and budget.
Many Utah County couples opt for a catered buffet in lieu of a plated meal.
Better, tastings with your preferred caterer are a fun date opportunity - grab your partner and sit down with to get a feel for what they offer. This part of planning should be enjoyable, so taste to your hearts content.
If you’re DIYing, many of our brides focus on small bites or hors d’oeuvres, which are perfect for keeping things stress-free and budget friendly.
Tip: Our In house catering partner, Wooden Horse Catering has a flourish for the tasteing session.
Florals change everything
Florals transform any space - even one as beautiful as ours. Everytime a florist shows up to enhance our already amazing spaces, we marvel.
Tables, arches, bud vases, and simple arrangements can make your reception feel magical.
Utah County florists often blend flowers, greenery, and seasonal blooms for a local, natural feel. Schedule a consultation with a florist early so you can lock in colors and styles before your venue fills up.
Tip: Kennedy, our in-house florist, is amazing and can really bring your vision to life.
Treats & drinks (Utah County style)
Decide what desserts and drinks will make your wedding memorable and fun.
Forget the bar, we’re into sugar and soda! Cookies, cupcakes, donut walls, and dessert bars are popular in Utah County. Drinks? Dirty sodas, sparkling water, and fun mocktails are perfect for all-ages enjoyment.
Little personal touches—like a candy bar or hot cocoa station—make your reception feel custom and fun.
Tip: We’ve got some great preferred vendors in the treats & drinks categories - it was the first to fill up when we opened in 2024.
Décor decisions (minimal or max—your call)
Tablescapes are trending more maximalist these days - think our elegant wood tables with a simple runner, layered with candlesticks, votives, and bud vases. Want to go bigger? Add floral centerpieces textured linens, lanterns, or other statement décor. We’ve seen it all - from candle/flower maxxing to parsimonious and serene. Whatever fits your style.
Tip: La Fete’s Decor Package make it easy to quickly and easily define your style without spending weeks running to Hobby Lobby.
Music & dancing
Music sets the energy for the latter part of your fête (see what we did there).
Our DIY DJ booth with your curated playlist is a great way to get the party loud —it's inexpensive, gives you total control over the vibe, and avoids cheesy clichés or bad song choices.
Want a bit more? Hire a pro DJ can be a game-changer for your party. They read the room like pros, switching tracks on the fly to keep the energy high and dance floor packed—no awkward lulls or mismatched vibes from a static playlist.
They handle smooth transitions, hype announcements, and crowd requests, turning good music into an epic night.
If your crowd loves to dance and you know their taste well, go booth. If not, splurge on a DJ.
Either way, we are there for it!
Traditional moments (or skip them)
Decide which traditions matter: first dance, parent dances, speeches, bouquet toss. Skip what doesn’t feel meaningful.
Personal touches like reading a favorite scripture, a surprise song, or a family toast make the day feel uniquely yours. It’s your day, so you choose what to do.
Videos or slideshows
Slideshows or short video montages are a sweet way to share your story.
Think childhood photos, dating highlights, or heartfelt messages from family. Keep them short and scheduled strategically during the reception so they enhance the day, not slow it down.
We have three frame TVs ready to show your best - just send us a Google drive link and we’ll take care of it.
Plan the sendoff
When the party’s winding down, plan a sendoff that feels celebratory—sparklers, bubbles, ribbons, or LED lights all photograph beautifully. Don’t worry about the weather - cold or hot - nobody cares, so do what you want.
Its not as hard as you think.
Planning a wedding in just three months might feel like a whirlwind, but with a clear plan, the right vendors, and a little local know-how, it’s completely doable—and actually fun.
At La Fête, we keep wedding planning stress-free with up to three personalized consultations.
We’ll engage with your ideas, refine your timeline for smooth flow, and offer pro recommendations based on real experience.
Follow this checklist, stay organized, and enjoy the ride: your beautiful, stress-free wedding is just around the corner!
