The Real Story Behind Wedding Venue Pricing 💍
Alternative title: Where Your Money Actually Goes (Because We Think You Deserve to Know)
We get it. You're scrolling venue websites, seeing "$8,000" or "$12,000" packages, and thinking... okay, but what am I actually paying for?
Most venues just list their prices and move on. But at La Fête, we believe in transparency because hidden costs - and surprise fees aren't the experience we want to create for our couples.
Let's Break Down Where Your Money Actually Goes
"Why Does Saturday Cost More?"
Saturday pricing is higher for several reasons, and we want you to understand why: they command higher rates because they are more desirable. It’s easier to get groups together on a Saturday - especially if you have travelers from out of town
Tip: Here's something to consider: weekday weddings in Utah Valley can save you a nice chunk on the budget. We've hosted incredible weekday evening celebrations that felt just as special—and your guests will absolutely show up.
Your Venue Fee: An Actual Breakdown
When you pay for La Fête (or really, any quality venue), here's what should be included:
The space itself - plus our professional setup and cleanup crew
Tables, chairs, and basic amenities for an even to function- and the labor to arrange everything
Venue attendant - someone dedicated to helping with the physical logistics on your wedding day
Utilities, WiFi, and climate control - keeping you and your guests comfortable
If a venue's price seems unusually low, start asking what's NOT included. We always encourage couples to ask detailed questions.
What $8K Gets You in Utah Valley
Let's discuss our local market candidly. For around $4000 at a Utah Valley venue (including ours), you typically receive:
A dedicated space for 6 hours
Tables and chairs for around 150-200 guests
Basic logistical coordination beforehand and on-site assistant on the day of
Signature decor pieces or venue features (think mantle, bookcases, Frame TVs, etc.)
What's usually NOT included:
Catering ($30-75 per person)
Soda bar or treat service ($5-15 per person)
Florals ($2,000-8,000)
Photography ($3,000-5,000) for basic coverage
Videography ($1700-4000) for basic coverage
Utah Valley offers exceptional value compared to Salt Lake City proper or other major markets. But it's important to budget for the complete picture, not just the venue cost alone.
Red Flags to Watch For at ANY Venue
We want you to find the right venue for you, even if it's not us. Before signing any contract, ask these questions:
"What exactly is included in my venue fee?" - Get specific details
"Are there any additional fees?" - Ask about cleaning fees, overtime, and vendor use fees (some venues charge your vendors to work there)
"What's your cancellation and rescheduling policy?" - This is a consideration, but not a common one in our experience. But it’s good to know.
"Do I have to use your preferred vendors?" - Exclusive vendor lists can limit options and increase costs
"What does 'venue coordinator' actually mean?" - Day-of management only? Planning assistance? The scope varies significantly
If they're vague or reluctant to answer clearly, that's a red flag.
Payment Timeline That Works With Your Budget
Here's how we structure payments at la fête (most venues follow a similar model):
Booking deposit: We don’t do one. At La Fête, you only need to sign a contract and make your first payment (of up to 3 payments).
Second payment: usually when you're booking other major vendors
Final payment: The remaining balance is usually paid before you walk in the door. Ask about strategic payment dates based on your wedding day - we’ll work with you if you need something different than the typical payment plan.
The Bottom Line
Your venue cost is likely the second- or third-largest wedding expense (after catering and photography). You deserve to understand exactly what you're paying for and why.
At La Fête, we're not interested in surprising you with hidden fees or unclear pricing. We built this venue to offer something different in Utah Valley—a beautiful, classical experience-focused space that doesn't require an unlimited budget or hide costs in fine print.
We believe the best weddings come from knowing where your money goes and spending it intentionally on what matters most to you and your partner.
Have questions about our pricing? We're happy to walk you through everything in detail. Transparency isn't just a value for us—it's how we do business.
